Eden Lutheran Church of Riverside California was founded in 1888 as the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Eden Church. It is thought that the founding fathers incorporated the word "EDEN" into the church's name because of the area's fertile reputation.
Over 120 years later, Eden Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and serves the Riverside community and its members well. We proudly recognize that we are the second oldest, continually active congregation in the Pacifica Synod.
Our current sanctuary was completed in September, 1953, so we are nearing our 60th Anniversary on Brockton Avenue.
In 1986, Eden proudly began a community ministry focusing on education. The result was Eden Lutheran School, a preschool for children from ages 2 to 5 years.
